Dell, one of the leading brands in PCs, laptops, and peripherals, has recently launched Thin Client WYSE 5070 globally and in India. The new Wyse 5070 Thin Client is a step ahead in the thin client computing and virtualization. As the company’s most versatile and scalable thin client platform, it enables organizations to select just the right configuration based on their employees’ needs. Further, leveraging the virtualization technology present in Wyse 5070, it would be easier for organizations to adopt it and scale up.

Wyse 5070

Dell Wyse 5070

The Dell Wyse 5070 comes with True 4K and other options that enable the IT department to deploy and update the client based on their employees’ request and usage. Surprisingly, the thin client comes pre-configured with 1600 factory settings. This versatility allows customers to procure the right solution for their workforce without over-equipping or overspending. Customers can choose just the right core components from processor, graphics, and memory options, and match them with specialized options with support for up to six displays. From a single platform, the 5070 can scale to support task workers, knowledge workers, and even high-end, workstation-level use cases.

The following are some of its benefits:

  • Software and application versatility: Organizations can install the 5070 in a Citrix, Microsoft or VMware virtual workspace environment with the choice of Dell’s own Wyse ThinOS or ThinLinux operating systems or Windows 10 IoT Enterprise. It also supports commonly-used, web-based productivity applications, such as Office365 and Google Docs.
  • Forward-looking features: The Wyse 5070 is packed with features for today and tomorrow’s office environments, including support for true 4K graphics (4K resolution on multiple monitors at 60Hz) for multimedia and graphics-intensive applications. The range of connectivity options includes multiple integrated DisplayPorts, USB 3.1 Type C and wired and wireless connectivity. Physically compact, the 5070 features 21 ports and slots for remarkable expandability.
  • High-end performance at a mid-range price: Dell is setting a new standard for price/performance. The 5070 represents a step function in performance while its price remains comparable to its predecessors. Further, it offers greater performance and more options at a better price than its primary competitors.
  • To further ease the management and monitoring the Thin Client, Dell has Wyse Management Suite which can be hosted with the organization’s network or at the cloud, a combination of both can also be done. The management suite is an advanced thin client management solution that lets organizations centrally configure, monitor, manage, and optimize their Wyse thin clients. The management suite comes with an easy to use interface to get you started with the new Wyse 5070.]
  • The Wyse 5070 family comes in four variants in order to suit a wider array of budgets. The lower-end models come with Celeron SoCs, and the higher-end ones come with Pentium cores. All the new Wyse 5070 variants will be shipping with either Windows IoT Enterprise 10, ThinOS or Linux operating systems.
  • The entry-level Celeron 2K variant, which will be powered by the Celeron N4000dual-core SoCs clocked at 1.1 GHz and will feature 4 GB DDR4-2560 RAM plus 32 GB of eMMC storage for the WIE 10 option, while the ThinOS/TLinux gets only 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of eMMC storage. This variant only supports two 1080p outputs.
  • The Celeron 4K, Pentium 4K, and Extended Pentium variants, which come with similar features except for the fact that the Pentium ones support two 4K outputs plus one 1080p out, while the Celeron 4K supports just the two 4K outs. The Celeron 4K is powered by the Celeron J4105 quad-core SoC clocked at 1.5 GHz, whereas the Pentium 4K comes with a Pentium Silver N5000 quad-core processor clocked at 1.1 GHz, and the Extended Pentium model gets a Pentium Silver J5005 chip running at 1.5 GHz. These three variants integrate up to 8 GB of DDR4 memory plus 32 GB SSD storage for WIE 10 OSs, and only up to 4 GB RAM plus 16 GB eMMC storage for ThinOS/TLinux. Only the Pentium variants get rear audio connectors.

The list of common features across all variants includes:
•    1 Gb connector with integrated NIC
•    10 USB-A 3.0 connectors (Front x4, Rear x4, Internal Pins x2) plus one USB-C 3.1 in front
•    Intrusion detection, Kensington Lock, and TPM 2.0 security features

The Extended Pentium model gets a 130 W PSU and integrates legacy ports like 2 serials, 1 parallel and a PCIe 4x. All the others get only 1 serial and sport a 65 W PSU.

Although Dell Wyse 5070 Thin client is thin in size, it doesn’t compromise on the ports and connectivity options. It has all the important ports and connectors that anyone can ask for. The new unit is fitted with 21 separate ports, and along with all the expected ports (such as USB Type-C, DisplayPort, and Ethernet), the 5070 also features support for the legacy ports, which are still widely used within organizations, such as serial and parallel ports.

Dell also allows customers to further customize the new Wyse 570 PCs with several options like up to 8 GB RAM for ThinOS/TLinux OSs, up to 256 GB SSDs and Smart Card readers for Celeron 4K models and up, a second Gbe jack plus wireless connections, a VGA port, 90 W PSUs, and discrete AMD GPUs for the Extended Pentium variant.

MobiiStar has recently entered Indian Market with New budget phones CQ and XQ Dual in India. The Brand is leading manufacturer in Vietnam and has launched its product in India to capture and offer varied experience to users than that of Chinese. We have received the XQ Dual from the brand for review and here’s our take on this budget-friendly device.

XQ Dual: Design, Display, and Hardware

The design of the phone is not something that may impress you, with the current phones coming with full view display MobiiStar has a design that resembles phones that have been launched in past. There is huge chin at the bottom and at the top for microphone and selfie flash which is visible gives at a bad look. The device has a Metal body which makes it feel durable rest the design is very common and the phone may get lost in budget devices that are already leading in the market.

The phone has dual front camera 13MP + 9MP which offers wide-angle selfies (Good for group selfies) and comes with selfie flash which helps you in taking selfies even in low light conditions. The rear camera is of 13MP which helps you taking decent photos from the phone. The phone’s camera doesn’t disappoint you.

The volume rockers on the left and power button along with sim card holder on the right side. The keys are easy to reach and well accessible. The speaker grill, Micro USB, and Microphone are crammed at the bottom. Fortunately, the phone has 3.5MM jack and it is present at the top.

The smartphone has a 5.5 in Full HD IPS display with a resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels. The display is bright, offers good color output and the sunlight legibility is good even in bright outdoor. The screen also has Asahi DragonTrail toughness glass protection that protects it from scratches.

The phone comes equipped with Snapdragon 430 clocked at 1.3 GHz coupled with 3GB of  RAM, the performance of the phone most of the time is great and snappy. The interface of the phone is somewhat similar to the Chinese manufacturer we see in the market. The GPU also offers good gaming performance in most games. We were able to play games like Asphalt and PUB G without any issues.

The fingerprint scanner of the XQ Dual is not that fast but recognizes the fingerprint most of the times and sometimes it faces difficulty in recognizing the fingerprint. The fingerprint module is well accessible and it’s easy to use. Unfortunately, it doesn’t allow you to access applications through dedicating fingers for quick access. The Loudspeaker is loud enough and due to its presence on the bottom, the audio doesn’t get muffled due to the placement. While gaming its pure fun on this device.

Performance

The smartphone handles day to day tasks with ease. The UI is pretty smooth with almost no lags whatsoever. Thanks to the 3 GB of RAM, the multitasking is decent. We also tested the smartphone with some casual games and graphics-intensive titles. It handled casual games without any issues. But, in games like Asphalt 8, Modern Combat 5 we noticed a slight lag in the gameplay. Overall, the performance was smooth and good. We will talk about the software in the coming lines. The phone is powered by slightly dated processor Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor clocked at 1.40 GHz. The storage is expandable via Micro SD card.

Software

XQ Dual doesn’t offer stock android experience. It has been installed with customized Android with a custom user interface to offer ease of access and other customization that you can do. Mobiistar has added some nifty features like Intelligent Assitant, Anti Theft and more. The built-in Anti-theft feature requires you to log in via your Google/Facebook account to store and sync data. The software experience on this phone could be refined and need more touch-up. The phone has some problems like you can’t Swipe away the notification sometimes and this doesn’t happen always but it had to be mentioned.

Connectivity

The XQ Dual has all the connectivity which a budget phone should offer. It has VoLTE and Bluetooth connectivity. It has 4G support with support of 4G VoLTE for Reliance Jio. Both the SIMs support 4G, but you can enable 4G only in one SIM at a time, while the other goes to 3G. You can set the default SIM for a voice call, messaging or data connection. It has Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS and USB OTG support.

Since this is a dual SIM phone you get the option to call or send SMS from either SIMs. Calls were clear and we did not face any call drops, but the earpiece quality is not the best if you are in a noisy environment.

Battery

The phone has 3000mAh Battery capacity which lasts for almost a day on heavy usage but with casual usage, it lasts for more than a day. The charging is also fast taking almost about an hour and a half to completely charge.

Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 Review: Best Budget phone with Pure Android https://www.indiantechguys.com/zenfone-max-pro-m1-review/ Sat, 30 Jun 2018 16:52:32 +0000 https://www.indiantechguys.com/?p=3721 The smartphone industry is witnessing new technology updated and It becomes very difficult for the consumers to select device for themselves and it becomes a daunting task for them, To make it easier and...

The smartphone industry is witnessing new technology updated and It becomes very difficult for the consumers to select device for themselves and it becomes a daunting task for them, To make it easier and simplified I am reviewing the best budget phone that offers Pure Android experience with the latest dual camera along with sleek and full screen(bezeless) display so you get everything that trending and new in the Smartphone world. I am talking about Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 that is launched recently and is one of the phones that can make you stand apart from the crowd. These days Indian market is flooded with the smartphones and every smartphone maker is launching a new device every month with some little changes, confusing the ultimate consumer, as there is no guarantee that a device bought today will be latest. Asus has been trying out various strategies to make its market share count in India and it has seen success in India by launching Premium phones like Asus Zenfone 3, Asus Zenfone 5, Zenfone AR and so on.

Now it seems Asus has been trying to grab the customers who are budget conscious and are looking to getting value for money which they are paying. In order to serve these consumer, Asus has launched the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 which has all the features that a sub Rs.20,000 to 30,000 phone has, right from dual camera to full HD screen.

Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1: Design

The Asus Zenfone Max Pro comes with Full-Screen view display that covers the majority of the front and there are no physical keys on the front instead, you get three on-screen buttons. The Phone is made of full metal unibody and it’s very sleek to hold. The volume and lock key is mounted on the right of the phone and they are easily accessible. The screen size is 5.99″ and offers Full HD Display. The display is really crisp and offers vivid color experience.  Apart from the screen, there is a microphone and front 8MP Shooter for taking some awesome selfies. The Rear has the real deal, the Dual vertical camera with 13MP + 5MP Shooters for capturing the awesome moments along with you. The fingerprint sensor is mounted towards the top and sometimes it becomes hard to reach due to the huge screen size of the phone. I guess Asus could have mounted it a little bit towards the bottom so that it could have been easy to access.

The camera modules on the rear surprisingly don’t protrude out. The rear is a metal finish and somehow it attracts unnecessary fingerprints due to the finish and that can be a problem for some. The Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 is also a bit thick at 8.61mm and somewhat heavy at 180g. Because of its size, you won’t be able to reach all parts of the screen with one thumb, and it can be a little top-heavy when typing with both thumbs at keyboard level. The tray on the left has cutouts for two Nano-SIMs as well as a microSD card.

In the retail box, you get a 10W charger, a USB cable, some warranty and other leaflets, and a little cardboard accessory called the Max Box. This is essentially a foldable stand for the phone with a cutout in its base that helps direct and amplifies sound. There’s no headset, screen protector, or a case of any kind bundled with the Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 unlike other manufacturers, seems here some real cost-cutting has been done to bring Zenfone Max Pro M1 to its price.

Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1: Software

The first thing you would notice in the Zenfone Max Pro M1 is the software that has been kept very very close to the stock Android for a Moment I thought I was using a Pixel because of the launcher and stock-like experience. Thankfully Asus has this time no bloated this phone with unnecessary which the consumer rarely use. This unnecessary bloatware also uses memory which now is free for the users. The phone first time I unboxed received a security update with some software and camera improvements this proves that Asus would be providing timely updates and security patches as they are released.

Asus has used Snapdragon 636 Chipset which is actually used by Xiaomi in its Redmi Note 5 Pro as well. Use of this chipset makes this phone all the more special due to its performance and capabilities. The phone thankfully doesn’t have any notch on the screen and this means that the youtube videos and movies would be more fun and engaging.  The corners are rounded, and Asus claims a 450nit maximum brightness with a contrast ratio of 1500:1 and 85 percent reproduction of the NTSC color gamut. In terms of design, this phone isn’t exactly borderless but it does look slick and modern. The screen is bright enough for outdoor use, and colors are quite vibrant. We had no complaints about viewing angles either. There’s a night mode as well as manual color temperature adjustment in the Settings app.

The phone has nano sim slots with dedicated memory card slot which can be used to extend the phone’s memory by 2TB. The phone can run only single sim 4G and other would be limited to 3G and the phone has a support for VoLTE too. There’s single-band Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n which is a surprise, considering that the Snapdragon 636 supports faster Wi-Fi 802.11ac. However, you do get Bluetooth 5 with aptX audio.

You get all the Android Oreo features such as notification dots, action shortcuts on app icons, and split-screen multitasking. The Auto brightness features work great. The phone has some customizations like gestures and double tap to wake and sleep works most of the time and I didn’t have any problem with them. Gestures actually made the work easier and they are easy to use and define in the settings so next time you have to do something you know you are just a gesture away. The phone has facial recognition and it instantly unlocks the device once it recognizes you. It’s not very fast to unlock but a better way to unlock in case the fingerprint sensor is a problem for you.

Performance

Performance on this smartphone is of Top Notch. The phone sports the same chipset that we saw ease through tasks on the Note 5 Pro and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 does the same here. Asus’ choice to go with a clean, stock-like UI also helps with that as the phone did not display any hiccups even when I pushed the phone to its limits. Games that have become new sensation Like PubG and Asphalt could be run at Max setting without any problems.

Camera

This is one section Asus should have focused more although the phone comes with Dual camera setup and performs pretty decent in daylight settings, that’s not the case when used in Dark conditions or Night time. The phone sports a dual-camera setup on the back with a 13 MP camera with a f/2.2 aperture, supported by a 5 MP camera with f/2.4 aperture. On the front, you get an 8 MP selfie camera.  Shots in daylight are decent when shot in an adequate amount of light, but there is a tendency to oversaturate the colors which result in slightly darker shots than expected. The photographs are otherwise pleasant to look at and the sharpness levels are also quite comparable to those of the Redmi Note 5 Pro which still are best in class at the sub-Rs 15,000 price range. Few Camera Sample are attached below

The camera is easy to navigate and the really handy options have been kept right in front but like other phones, it could have been made simplified. Asus has provided with the number of dedicated shooting modes which include — HDR, portrait, landscape, sports, flowers, candlelight, sunset, beach and even a night mode. While most of these are modes you will not find yourself using, the HDR and night modes are the ones which still seem to work. While daylight shots are more or less comparable, it’s the low-light shots where the ZenFone really loses out to the Redmi Note 5 and Note 5 Pro.

The Front camera performs well but it struggles again in the low light conditions and even though there’s flash present it doesn’t help much. The pictures from this smartphone are average even under bright lighting conditions. The portrait mode does a good job of separating the subject when shooting through the rear as well as the front camera and falls behind when compared with the competition in the market.

Battery

Asus has done a great job by managing to provide a 5000 mAh battery with the phone. With a 14 nm chipset inside it, the ZenFone Max Pro lasted me two days with at least 35 percent juice left. This was with the brightness set to auto and performing daily tasks such as email, WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack, Instagram and roughly two hours of gaming and video consumption. The phone supports reverse charging as well so it’s a handy powerbank as well. The phone lasts for 11 hours approximately on continued usage with PC Mark Battery benchmark test. To Completely charge the phone from 1% to 100% you need 2hours of charge and that’s seriously amazing that at full charge you would hardly need the charger.

TechGig Code gladiators had its fifth season organized in Mumbai this year, more than 1000 participants turned up in teams to challenge a team from all around India. Most of the participants in TechGig this year were from various parts of India and not city specific to Mumbai. The grand finale for the TechGig code gladiators took place in Mumbai, Reliance Jio Campus. Ever since February 2018, when this year’s edition of TechGig Code Gladiators was announced, the Indian tech community enthusiastically participated in this mega coding marathon.

Vineet Paliwal one of the Coding Gladiators managed to beat all the coders participating in the hackathon to win the title of the prestigious ‘Code Champion’ title at the 2018 edition of TechGig Code Gladiators. Noida-based Vineet, who is working as a Director with a leading technology company took home a whopping sum of Rs 2,50,000, a trophy and a certificate.  He beat 2,28,880 coders to become the champion.

The previous year edition of the TechGig code gladiators made into the guiness books of world records as the world’s largest Programming Event. Code Gladiators 2017 attracted 81,641 unique submissions, thereby breaking the previous World Record of 30,634 entries set by China’s Baidu Online Network Technology. Participation at the 2018 edition was even bigger than the record-breaking 2017 numbers.

“TechGig Code Gladiators 2018 proves that Indian coders are extremely competitive and highly enthusiastic. This tim0e, the event witnessed a massive participation of 2,28,880 coders out of which only the best 15,000 were shortlisted for the semi-final round and just 300 coders were considered for the final,”

said Ramathreya Krishnamurthi, Business Head of TechGig and TimesJobs. Notably, TechGig Code Gladiators 2017 edition saw 2,09,111 participants and set the world record for maximum participation in a programming competition.

“The finale event spanned over three days and we met some of the most proficient coders out there. From undergraduate tech students to even expecting mothers – we saw a whole new generation of super zealous techies who were eager to showcase their skills to the world,”

Ramathreya Krishnamurthi added.

There were many coders felicitated at the event and some of the best coders that won are

First runners-up: Akashdeep Nain
Second runners-up: Naveen Reddy
Third runners-up: Vikram Singh Panwar
Fourth runners-up: Aneesh D H

Apart from coding there some new themes that were added in the TechGig this year which are Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, Amazon Alexa Skills, and Cloud Computing.

Congratulating the winners, Sanjay Goyal, VP, and Head- Product & Technology, TimesJobs and TechGig said,

“TechGig as a platform enables country’s young tech professionals to learn, compete and test their skills. Code Gladiators is a testament to that commitment. I believe technology can no longer be a discrete industry. So, we are planning to go international and create a global innovation exchange for the Indian and International coding fraternity. We would also like to create opportunities where Indian coders can partner with their global counterparts and explore innovations around new and emerging technologies.”

Vishal Sharma, Managing Director in Consulting, Deloitte Consulting India Private Limited said,

“At Deloitte, our focus is to provide a well-rounded growth opportunity to our professionals to cultivate their talent. We help them leverage their unique strengths to contribute, innovate, and unlock their potential while solving our client’s biggest challenges. TechGig Code Gladiators is one such platform for our professionals to innovate and hone their skills. Last year, we won the ‘Coding Powerhouse of India’ title and this year, we have come back with a much stronger participative spirit. This championship is a great way to assess and identify our calibre in an ever-evolving marketplace, especially for our professionals who can shine among their peers in the industry and be competitive.”

TechGig is India’s first initiative which helps the tech community to showcase its talent and skills with the world and also the TechGig aims at providing a better opportunity in terms of Job or a Startup assistance to the participants so that they grow and develop themselves. TechGig is a heaven for coders where they meet people with alike mind and exchange and learn new skills so that they can bring out the better skills in them.  I really liked the event with so much enthusiasm and support from big MNC like – Deloitte, ABB cement, Reliance Jio. It is a culmination of everything related to technology, a platform exclusively for IT professionals to synergize, share, exchange ideas, facts and information as well as showcase their work and express their views on the vast repertoire that the IT industry encompasses. Garnering cutting-edge insights, jobs, reviews and news, as well as providing a platform for connecting with colleagues and peers are the mainstay of TechGig.

French tech firm Zook announced the launch of its premium ZM-Rocker Symphony in-ear headphones with noise isolation and high-quality audio experience in India recently and the company sent us a review sample of the product to try.  After trying it for a month here’s our take on the headphone.

The design of Zook ZM-Rocker is very comfortable and even after extended usage, the headphones did not cause any pain or anything in the ears. Zakk air is available in black color with Green shade earbuds. The length of two earpieces is more than enough. The buttons on the wire are easy to reach and operate. The Headphones have a built-in mic which lets you take calls on the go without any interruption. The headphone comes in easy to carry case in which you get extra earbuds which you can use to fit headphones in the ear. The tangle free wire design free’s you from a hassle of solving spider’s web.

These headphones are in-ear and are very lightweight. The headphones provide a great fit and while working out activities you don’t have to worry about headphones falling down as they fit perfectly in your ears. The Sound quality is great but the headphones compromise a bit on Bass. I found the bass to be little low as compared to other in-ear Headphones. The volume is great in the headphones and at Max volume also the headphones don’t distort.

Zook ZM-Rocker headphones you will be able to take your fitness training to the next level as these wireless headphones produce invigorating music which would keep you motivated and won’t let you stop. Ideal for any activities.

The earphones contain 10 mm drivers with 1.2-meter cord length and are compatible with all smartphones, tablets, and computers using a 3.5 mm connector.

The product comes with following features

  • Unbeatable in-ear music experience
  • Exceptional dynamic speaker’s mechanics
  • Reliable and strong materials
  • Easy to Carry case so that cable do not break

The Zook ZM-Rocker is currently available for Rs. 579/- and can be purchased from Amazon and Flipkart.

Home Automation is one of the things which the New generation home buyers are always looking for in the New house. There are various benefits of Home Automation and Primary one is the ease of access you get at the touch of a button on your mobile. Picostone is a Mumbai based startup which is trying to bring about a change in the Home Automation sector by Automating the traditional home without any fuss to do re-wiring and other things and still enjoy the same experience as any other Home Automation device will give. Picostone Basic about to hit the markets in May/June and We had an early chance to review the device at our place in Mumbai.

Picostone Basic: Design

The Picostone is purposefully designed as a small brick which can fit inside any switchboard. Picostone is designed so that it fits in the switchboard and isn’t visible to anyone. There are four connecting slots present on the device which helps in connecting the device to picostone basic. All the material like wires, Fuse and clips come along with the device so you don’t have to buy them separately.  The packaging of the Device is really small and it can be carried anywhere easily having said that its also easy to install and remove if one is leaving in a rented house. As Picostone gets hidden behind the switchboard there’s nothing much design can do in the device.

Picostone Basic

Picostone Basic: Setup and Performance

Picostone should be installed by a known electrician and if you are well aware of the electrical connection then I would suggest installing it yourself else in our case Picostone arranged a technician for installing the device. The installation was hassle free and took only 10 mins to get installed. Picostone Basic can be controlled only via its application interface and you need to download their application from the play store. The application is lightweight and easy to use. While running the application for the first time you need to configure picostone to run from your Home Wifi. The steps to do so already comes with a small pamphlet along with the device. Once configured you can use picostone from anywhere through your mobile. You can control the devices on picostone through your mobile data as well. There is a slight lag of 1 min to 2 min when control devices through your mobile data. Your switches on the board also work but in an opposite manner so for example if you have turned the fan ON from picostone you can switch off the Fan through by turning the switch to ON State. Basically switches become back Switch. The device works flawlessly and is easy to use and configure, it comes with a bunch of features such as mood setting and Scheduling. These features work well if you have an appropriate light connected to picostone.

Picostone Basic

Surprisingly the Picostone is Alexa ready and has already skill for it in the Skill Store of Amazon. It’s like the Icing on the cake – You can control Picostone through Alexa without even having to touch your mobile phone. Your voice is enough for picostone to get started and get the things done. But in case of Alexa, there are few things that need to be updated like whenever I asked Alexa to turn the Fan ON or OFF it actually turned everything ON and OFF. So there needs to be something that needs to be updated to prevent it. During the review, I faced some small issue’s which were solved by the team immediately and I had a very pleasurable experience with them.

Pricing and Availability

The Picostone Basic is available at a Price of Rs. 11800 and can be booked through the Picostone’s official website. The pricing is a little bit on a higher side and would stop the budget users to get their hands on their Smart Home Automation. Still, I believe the Price is justified with the Kind of service and experience the Picostone provides.
