Billed as Phase 2 of Kochi-based Startup Village that was set up in 2012, the digital step-up of the telecom incubator will be launched at the College of Engineering at 6:15 pm.

The Chief Minister will also launch the #StartInCollege training campaign aimed at the 50 lakh students in 3,500 engineering colleges across the country. The campaign offers a month of free training, which will help students take advantage of the services of SV.CO.

The event will be attended by Finance Minister Dr. T M Thomas Isaac; Infosys Co-Founder and Chief Mentor of Startup Village Kris Gopalakrishnan; Head of National S&T Entrepreneurship Development Board Dr H K Mittal; Industries Principal Secretary Shri P H Kurian; and IT Secretary Shri Sivasankar, Ispirt Co-Founder Sharad Sharma, Freshdesk Founder Girish Mathrbootham and KTU Vice Chancellor Kuncheria Issac among others.

The online digital incubator aims at leveraging the guidance and mentoring capabilities of the award-winning Startup Village for students, who would like to dabble in the fascinating world of startups across the country. On the occasion, Startup Village Chairman Sanjay Vijayakumar will present the “Vision for Phase 2”.

SV.CO, which has been receiving an overwhelming response in its beta phase from students across the country, will focus on creating an entrepreneurial culture among the country’s five million engineering students by providing them a completely digital incubation framework, ranging from an application for admission to teaching, mentoring and graduation.

Apple, Microsoft, Google and Facebook, whose products we use daily, were once young campus startups in Silicon Valley,”

said Mr. Vijayakumar.

“India’s opportunity to provide its 50 lakh engineering students the chance to build world-changing companies has arrived and with SV.CO, we have a unique opportunity to teach everyone how to build great startups. Just log on to www.SV.CO/apply and be part of building the future of India.”

Startup Village is a pioneer in the incubation ecosystem in the country with its bold experiments and PPP structure. Currently, more than nine states send their official delegations to Startup Village to study its model.
