VU Premium Android 55 Inch 4K Smart TV Review

VU Televisions have been present in the Indian market since long and have great insights about consumer behavior. The company has recently invited us to the exclusive pre-launch event where they showcased us the revolutionary VU Upscale and the new range of 4K TV with Netflix and Amazon Prime pre-installed and with dedicated buttons on the remote. The company post launching the TV sent us a 55-inch premium Android-based TV for review.

Design

VU has managed to really impress us with the design this time, If you compare it with the previous android TV this one is much better and the company has designed as per the customer feedback. It’s great when the company listens and work on customer feedback. The TV is almost bezeless with 0.4cm bezels on the front panel. The TV is made with Titanium grey material which perfectly blends with existing living room decor. The TV is designed in such a way that it doesn’t distract you from the content. The Stand on which TV is kept is so well designed and attached that you easily get used to it and because of slim design it blends in and feels like invisible. The TV has many connectivity options that are well placed at the back panel. This 4K TV comes with A+ Grade Panel coupled with VU upscale technology to convert non-HD content to HD content. The TV comes with 2 box speakers that are mounted below the TV and trust me these speakers have pretty great output and base levels are amazing too.

The remote is well thought and designed with the direct keys to YouTube and Google Play it makes easier for a non-tech-savvy person to operate the TV. There’s also a TV button to directly take TV to Dish/ Cable operating input so you don’t have to follow the sequence of keys to watch your favorite channel. While using this TV it was very easy to understand and my parents were amazed to use Youtube and watch content on such a big screen.

Display

In a TV display is the most important component since we enjoy the content through it. This premium Android smart TV comes with A+ Grade panel and 4k HDR panel to give you amazing content viewing experience. The TV comes with revolutionary and in house designed VU upscale technology which helps you in watching the Standard definition content in High Definition. The technology basically converts the pixels and upscales it using Artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms. The TV comes with Dolby Vision and HDR Technology, This basically enhances the subtle details of dark and bright areas to maximize the contrast and color accuracy for your Video on Demand, Setup Box or USB content. With features, such as Smooth Motion Ratio, MPEG Noise Reduction, Adaptive Contrast, and Gamma Correction, this TV is here to give you a stunning cinematic experience in 4K. In addition to this, the UHD-certified resolution, HDR Technology, and Sports Mode upscale your content by adding subtle details to it. I really enjoyed the TV viewing experience on it and with OTT providers like Hotstar, it was like I was living in the movie. The panel is bright enough to make the dark scenes to be clearly viewed.

The user interface of the TV is kept to stock. It’s very easy and simpler to navigate between different applications. Applications like Netflix and Hotstar were already installed in the TV from VU and You can install Prime Videos from APK and it works great without any problems.

Sound

VU Premium android 4k TV comes with Two speakers mounted below the screen. The speakers provide descent sound output. I felt that Audio was little bit not upto the mark because at various occasions I felt that there should be more output to enjoy the experience. Otherwise the speakers are great. The TV has support Dolby Surround Sound and also has various modes preset through which you can adjust the sound to your liking.

Performance

Everything has already been discussed above and now it comes down to how this TV performs. The TV is loaded with Android 8.0 Oreo Operating system with updated planned for Android 9.0 Pie. The TV comes with 16GB storage and 3GB of Ram. The TV is able to stream 4K content without any glitch. In fact, I was amazed that the Youtube app showed 4K content for streaming directly. I had installed Amazon Prime Video’s via APK and it worked normally without any problems in login and streaming. Prime Video’s Application automatically scaled up to TV’s resolution and streaming was really fun. The TV performs really well and does best what’s it’s designed for that is play content. Since the TV is powered by Android OS you can use any Android phone to make it’s remote it’s just that you need to be connected on Same Wifi network. Thanks to chromecast built I was able to cast most of the content on the TV directly. Sometimes chromecast did give me problems while casting in spite of being on the same network. This TV brought back my childhood nostalgia with the immersive gaming experience.it also supports Smart TV features via the internet. You can connect to the internet via WiFi or Ethernet (LAN cable). It is much fun to play on this tv because of the large screen which is backed by a 4k panel and faster processing. The audio output, however, could be better, as the speaker as downward facing because of the slim panel the sound output is somewhat flats the quality. The TV has no bloatware or any custom UI so big thumbs up to VU for this amazing thing.

Final Verdict

VU Premium Android 4K Smart TV is really a promising TV with a lot to offer and currently, there’s no TV manufacturer offering A 4K Smart TV close to 40,000. The TV runs on Android and comes with Google Play Store. VU is a known brand in the TV segment, so it would be interesting to see if buyers opt out of majors like Samsung or Sony and go for their television. The only thing which limits the user from buying this TV would be brand loyalty else there is no reason you wouldn’t choose this TV over others. TV is great in terms of performance and design aesthetics. I would personally recommend this beauty worth a buy this sale season.
