Asus UX 534 FT Review: Light Weight, Ultra-Portable Laptop

I have reviewed various ASUS laptops in the past and recently I had the ASUS UX534 FT for review. The laptop from the images you can make out is ultra-thin, compact and portable. It feels light in hand and has an almost bezeless 4K display. I had the opportunity of trying the laptop for a couple of days at my convenience to review it.

Asus has really worked well on the lines of 13″, 14″ and 15″ inches laptop sizes well. I have been sent the Asus UX 534 ultrabook to review which is a surprisingly 15-inch laptop with chassis of a 14-inch laptop.

ASUS UX 534: Design

The Design of the laptop has improved a lot over the years and this one is special since it has many upgradations in terms of design. Starting with the Display. The laptop comes with a nano edge display which helps to get the 15 Inch display fit into the 14 Inch laptop chassis. The Fans of the laptop do not allow the heat to be felt on the keyboard side instead the heat is felt at the left side vents from where the heat dissipates. The Display is a 4K display coupled with Nvidia NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1650 Max-Q. The ergonomic backlit keyboard has been designed with 1.4mm travel to make each keystroke discernable. The keys have a 0.2 mm curve to make the typing accurate and comfortable. ZenBook 15 feature the latest USB-C™ port for superfast USB 3.1 Gen 2 data transfers. You’ll also find a USB 3.1 Type-A port, a USB 2.0 Type-A port, a full-sized HDMI port, and a microSD card reader. The touchpad doubles up as an extended screen as well as to perform some quick actions on the laptop. I will tell you more about the performance section down below.

The laptop feels very light and portable at the same time and it fits anywhere and you can carry it with you anywhere you want. The laptop feels rich and premium at the same time. I am amazed to try and use the beauty. I really liked the designing of this laptop.

ASUS UX 534: Performance

The zenbook 15 UX534 comes with intel i7 Quad-core processor coupled with Nvidia® GeForce® GTX 1650 Max-Q graphics which ensured you get uncompromised performance on the laptop. I tried working on different applications which I generally use in the office as well as while blogging. I tried running – Photoshop, illustrator on this ultrabook and trust me the performance was undoubtedly well. Microsoft Excel with lots of data processing was done in seconds which takes more than a minute or so in other i7 Laptops sometimes those laptops even become unresponsive but I haven’t faced the same on this laptop. The laptop is really fast and snappy. It supports 4K videos on youtube and it’s a pleasure to watch them on such a beautiful screen. The screen produces really well color and Keyboard is such a joy to use. Gaming on this is fun and I was able to play games like GTA 5, Far Cry and Call of duty without any hiccups.

The Screenpad doubles as an extended screen which sometimes is very useful like when you are editing on Photoshop and illustrator. The Screen can also be used to perform some quick actions like opening Spotify, calculator and few shortcuts from the touchpad itself. The touchpad is a 60hz full HD touch screen. The touchpad sometimes feels irritating as well and it would take at least months’ time to get used to it, It’s a great feature though.

The New Zenbook comes with a high-performance solid-state disk with a PCIe® 3.0 x4 interface that gives the new ZenBook series the fastest storage available. With up to 3.2GB/s sequential read speed and Up to 2.3 GB/s sequential write speed, allowing this laptop ultra-quick boot times and zero-wait app loading. And with 6GB of high-speed LPDDR3 or DDR4 RAM – clocked at an amazing 2133MHz or 2400MHz this can handle anything you throw at it without freezing or wait times.

Battery Life

This ultrabook comes with 71Wh 8-cell Lithium polymer battery which ASUS claims to provide a battery backup of 14 hours but in real life I found it to be giving a battery backup of 7 – 8 hours with screenpad on and off in between. The screenpad doesn’t much battery due to its energy-efficient design. The screenpad automatically goes into battery saving mode when you don’t use it.

Price and Availability

Asus UX 534 is available at leading computer shops as well as online and at Asus Exclusive Shops. The laptop is currently retailing for Rs.1,10,000 onwards. There is a toned-down version of this laptop that is also available which in case wish to checkout. The lower model is available with less ram and storage and rest all remain the same.
