Honor 7X Review After 1 Month: Perfect Budget Phone

Huawei Powered brand Honor has pioneered the dual camera technology. The company since then went on to revolutionize the smartphone industry with launching phones having enhanced camera capabilities. The Smartphone’s these days are seeing a new Trend with fewer Bezels and more Display. Honor recently launched the Honor 7X which is the successor to Honor 6X. Honor X series have been about more features under budget. The Honor 7X is the second phone from Honor with full-view display after Honor 9i. If you look at the specifications of the phone it is sure to impress you. I had the phone for a month and here’s the review after using it as a primary device.

The Honor 7x Sports 5.93″ Full View HD display. If you are looking for a phone with big and high definition plus display then this phone is for you. The Phone is really thin at the borders but thick at the top and bottom. Honor 7X has the rear-mounted fingerprint scanner with Dual camera Setup at the top. The Fingerprint scanner is well accessible and easy to reach without any problems. Honor has used a metal unibody for this smartphone which gives it that premium look and feels. It has antenna bands running along the top and the bottom.

The Power/Lock button and Volume buttons are on the right side of the phone. I found them to be placed a little bit upwards which made me stretch a bit to reach out to them and perform the action. The loudspeaker, 3.5mm headphones socket, primary microphone, and Micro-USB port are all on the bottom. The Honor 7X has a camera bump on the back which might be a reason to worry if the phone falls. The bump also looks like the eyes of a Minion.

The Honor 7X weighs 165 grams which feel about right in the hand. It measures 7.6mm in thickness while packing in a 3340mAh battery. Honor supplies a 10W charger in the box that is capable of charging the phone completely in two and a half hours.

Honor 7X Performance, Battery & Camera

Honor devices come with the processor that is manufactured by Huawei and Honor 7x comes with HiSilicon Kirin 659 SoC. It is an octa-core chip with four cores clocked at 2.36GHz and the other four clocked at 1.7GHz. With the Honor 7X, you get to choose between 32GB and 64GB of internal storage, but both variants have 4GB of RAM. Both also let you expand storage up to 256GB using a microSD card in the Hybrid dual-SIM slot. If you aren’t using that capability, the 7X can accommodate two Nano-SIMs. There is support for 4G and VoLTE on both SIMs, but only one can access the 4G network at a time.

The Phone is able to load High-end games without any lag or delay but it does take time in loading it. The phone does get heated on a continuous gaming session or a long video playback and battery also starts to drain quickly. The battery of the phone lasts for a day on normal usage but lasts for only 9-10 hours on a continuous usage, which is less than par for a battery of this size. The phone does come with battery saving tweaks and features but then one cannot use them all the time.

The camera is certainly is one of the strong points for Honor 7X and the camera app is very easy to use. The camera application comes with many modes including the Pro Mode which is actually a manual mode to take photos according to your settings. The Camera app also has the option to download additional modes if required.

The Camera shots taken with Honor 7X looks great but when you zoom into them they start to lose out in detail. Macros are good and there is a decent separation between subjects and backgrounds. The wide aperture mode gives you better depth of field by digitally adding blur based on the aperture value you select.

Network And Call Quality

Honor 7X has 4G VoLTE Support and it supports Jio Sim perfectly and The call quality on the phone is just Amazing However  We faced some minor Call drops on the phone. The phone receives the network well and I did not have any problems with the Dual Sims on the phone. The Phone’s dialer has some extra options which you can use to take notes while on the call and do other kinds of stuff.

Price and Availability

Honor 7x is loaded with happiness, no surprise why the phone has become quite a topic in the market. The Smartphone is priced at Rs.12999/- for 32GB version and Rs.15999/- for 64GB version and Would be available at Amazon and HiHonor Store.

Summary

With the Honor 7X, the X series has been brought up to date with the latest trends. You get a big display with the 18:9 aspect ratio and powerful hardware which should keep you happy. I found that camera performance isn’t really impressive, and battery life could have been a little better. If you want a modern-looking phone, then the Honor 7X is a good choice.
