Infinix Smart 3 Plus Review: Amazing Camera and battery

Infinix mobile had entered Indian market more than a year ago and have already launched several smartphones in India catering to various levels of buyers. Phones have been great success specially with the first-time buyers. Continuing the legacy Infinix has launched a new smartphone Infinix Smart 3 plus recently.  I was invited to exclusive closed-door meeting wherein the device was showcased and experience it. Post the launch I had a chance to play with the device and write a detailed review over it.

Design

The Phone has minimal bezel design with a teardrop notch. The screen is Full HD+ this makes it best for watching movies and playing games on it. The Phone’s main high light is the triple cameras at the back. No other smartphone maker is currently offering Triple camera setup in this price range. Infinix Smart 3 Plus body is designed with Plastic. The phone is light weight and handy to carry around. It’s one of the slimmest phones I have seen in the market recently.  The phone comes with a glossy finish at the back with a mirror finish this makes it look like a premium phone. However, you still need to settle with smudges at the back and front panel, but thankfully, the company has given an awesome protective case with the phone.

Performance

The Infinix Smart 3 Plus is loaded with 2GB of ram and 32GB of storage. The phone comes loaded with a MediaTek processor. Apart from this as mentioned earlier the phone comes with 6.2 HD Waterdrop display. The phone has triple cameras set up at back. Interestingly phone supports Dual VoLTE as well this means you can use Two 4G sims simultaneously with VoLTE. I tried using 2 Jio sim cards together and I was able to make and receive calls without any issues.

The phone has decent specs in the price tag that it’s selling for. In the real world, the phone performs well and sometimes hangs a bit if any memory intensive application is launched. The fingerprint reader is not the fastest and it takes around 10 secs sometimes to unlock the device. The face unlock is surprising works faster than a fingerprint scanner. The phone like previous Infinix devices comes with less Bloat. The company this time has installed less application on this phone.

There are a lot of UI customizations can be done thanks to Cheetah OS 5.0 running on top of Android 9.0.  The User interface is smooth to operate and comes loaded with interesting features as well. There is a page when you swipe left, that helps you in search, shows recent apps, weather information and let’s book a cab from OLA. We also like the fact that the company has given app drawer, which makes your home screen less cluttered.

The phone delivers some good results if you are not a heavy user. The phone handles most of the daily tasks quite effectively, although, if you are into heavy multitasking, then you might feel some shutter or lag. On the gaming front, it can handle casual games, but it is not meant to tackle high-end games. For this price point, you cannot expect a phone to run PUBG Mobile with smooth graphics? Can You?

Camera

The daylight camera performance of the Infinix Smart 3 Plus is quite good for its budget. The phone was able to take some good shots in broad daylight. The pictures a bit dull in nature, but the detailing is on par with the competition. Furthermore, the phone does a good job of capturing macro shots. The Bokeh shots are sometimes over blurred and the subject in the photos also gets blurred out but everything can be neglected because of the single fact that the phone comes at a very aggressive price point and all things can be upgraded with software updates.

Coming to the downside, low light performance of Infinix smart 3 plus is not great. The photos came out to be grainy and there was a drop of quality in our testing. Also, we found that there was a certain shutter lag and the phone took a couple of seconds to load the previously clicked image. The selfie performance is quite average as well. The phone does an average in broad daylight as most of the time the background was overexposed. In low light, the selfie came out to be full of noises and the quality was not that impressive.

Battery

The phone performs quite well in terms of battery backup. The 3500 mAh battery lasted for one full day with normal usage and some more juice left. Under the Power usage which is basically battery saving mode you get an extra battery life of 5 hours. The phone charges completely from 0 to 100 in 1 hour 30 minutes. You need to use the charger that comes with the phones or you will have huge charging times and phone won’t super charge.

Price & Availability

The phone is available online through E-commerce portal Flipkart at a very aggressive price of Rs.6,999 The phone is currently available online and there’s no waiting for it.

Summary

The phone looks like an interesting option at price range of Rs.6999. Infinix smart 3 plus is an perfect phone for first time smartphone buyers who wish to experience Android and smart features. The battery life can last one full day. Coming to the cameras, which also happens to its major highlight, falls a bit short of expectations. The selfie experience is quite average in our opinion. However, considering the price, it is hard to find other phones offering these features.
