OnePlus 7T Long Term Review: One of the fastest Android Phone

OnePlus had been present in India for quite a long time. The brand has been awarded as one of the leading smartphones in the premium category. India is a price-sensitive market and maintaining the leadership in premiums category is quite a task and Oneplus has very well managed to do that. It’s interesting that in spite of launching smartphones every 6 months with a minor update, people are still preferring OnePlus over other likes of Samsung and Google Pixel. I had been sent a review sample months ago for experiencing the all-new OnePlus 7T and here’s my detailed long term review of the smartphone. Let’s dive into the detailed OnePlus 7T Long term review.

OnePlus 7T Long Term Review: Design

OnePlus 7T Long Term Review
OnePlus 7T Front, Back and Side view.

The OnePlus 7T is slightly heavier and bulkier than the previous generation OnePlus phones. The phone features all body glass finish on the back. The comes equipped with a Triple camera setup. The primary camera is 48MP shooter with f/1.7, 26mm(wide), 1/2″, 0.8µm. The primary lens is capable of phase-detect autofocus and Optical Image stabilization. The secondary lens is a 12MP shooter for depth effect. There is also the third camera of 16MP which enables you to take ultra wide-angle shots. The camera department on the phone is undoubtedly the best. Since the day I have got the phone I have become unstoppable in terms of clicking pictures.

On the rear, there is a perfect place for the OnePlus brand logo. Just below the logo, there’s the NFC chip. This chip enables contactless payments. I miss the wireless charging support on OnePlus phones. There’s no headphones jack in the phone, also phone doesn’t come with Type c to 3.5mm converter so you have to buy it separately from the market or oneplus.in. On the bottom, there is Speaker grills and a Type C charging port. On the left of the phone are dual sim card port and volume rockers. On the right, there is an alert slider and lock button.

The front of the phone is all screen. The smartphone comes with a 6.41-inch Optic AMOLED screen which is capable of producing 16million colors. The phone is almost bezeless with just an 85% screen to body ratio. The smartphone has a screen resolution of 1080 x 2380 Pixels (19.5:9 ratio). The screen comes with corning gorilla glass 3 protection. On top others a notch featuring a 16MP selfie camera. The camera is capable of shooting video in 1080P @ 30 FPS with gyro Electronic Image stabilization. There is also a big speaker grill present on the front which boosts the sound and gives a stereo surround sound.

OnePlus 7T: Camera

One of the best highlights of OnePlus is its Camera. The phone comes with one of the best in class camera equipment. The camera app interface is simple and yet it is addictive. By addictive I mean that the camera app makes you click more photos than normal. The depth effect or The bokeh effect as many call it is perfectly designed on this phone. The phone can distinguish between the background and the object. The camera takes pretty wide-angled shots so you can fit maximum view into the picture. The pro mode enables you to take raw photos and along with allowing to change settings as per your requirement just like a professional camera.

OnePlus 7T: Performance

Being one of the phones running on top of the line snapdragon 855+ platform, it enables the phone to work flawlessly without any hiccups. Oxygen OS further adds the icing on the cake. On OnePlus 7T you can customize the phone as per your liking. Above everything, the phone is one of the few running on Google’s latest Android 10. The phone came with Android 9.0 out of the box and later got updated to Android 10. No matter whatever Game or task I tried on the phone worked pretty well without any delays.

This time one plus has upgraded the fingerprint sensor in the smartphone, the new in-display fingerprint sensor is 36% larger and feels faster and much more accurate. I always like the fingerprint scanner to be on the front since it helps me unlock the phone without even having to pick up the phone.

If the fingerprint scanner is not enough then, the smartphone also comes with a blazingly fast face unlock strategy. The face is not as safe as a fingerprint scanner but it’s faster than the scanner. It’s like raising the phone and it’s already unlocked.

The company has recently introduced new product philosophy “Fast & Smooth”, and with Oneplus, I can say that it is not a marketing term but reality. I can safely say that even Google is not able to manage Android that well as OnePlus manages to do so. I never have to wait for any application to load. I had been using the oneplus 6GB and 128 GB model, You can also grab the 8GB and 256GB.

OnePlus 7T: Battery

OnePlus 7T comes with 20W which charges your phone to 50% in half an hour. The phone comes with 3700 mAh cell and it keeps the phone running for more than a day. Still, OnePlus could have provided with 30W fast charging which is present on OnePlus 7 Pro and OnePlus McLaren Edition. The phone has some battery optimization built into the system which intelligently manages the background activity on the phone. Due to intelligent managing of background applications, the phone is always snappy and also uses less power and lets you do more.

OnePlus 7T Long Term Review: Price and Availability

It’s been quite a time since OnePlus 7T has been launched, the phone was first available in Septemeber 2019. Its been months and an upgraded version have already launched recently but still, Oneplus 7T remains well within the budget and packs most of the features. The phone is available across Oneplus exclusive offline stores and Online at Amazon.in. The phone is also available at offline partners like Reliance Digital and Croma stores.
