The world is going through COVID-19 Corona Pandemic and India is going through a 21 Days lockdown to flatten the curve of spread. The virus is contagious and spreads quickly human to human, hence the lockdown is implemented in the country. Smartphone brands have come up with an extended warranty for their customers in case the warranty falls in the lockdown period.
Due to the lockdown except for essential services, everything has been shut down and no commercial establishment is allowed to business in the country until the lockdown is in force. This also brings bad news if your phone is having a warranty expiry during this period than you are out of luck because you won’t be able to claim repairs in the brand warranty.
Understanding the situation and people’s concern of the same, some of the smartphone companies are offering an extended warranty to the basis of the device some conditions. You might be in luck if you have phones from the following companies -Huawei, Realme, OPPO, Honor, and Asus.
Huawei
In India, Huawei is offering doorstep service for the Huawei Watch and GT2 Watch. If your watch is under warranty, Huawei will completely replace it instead of repairing it. If the watch is out of warranty then whichever part is faulty would be replaced with new ones.
Realme
Realme India has announced that it will be extending warranties till 31st May 2020 for those whose warranty will be falling between 20th March 2020 and April 30th, 2020 following COVID-19 lockdown in the country. Additionally, if your purchase is between March 15 and April 30th, the Replacement period has been extended to 30days.
Honor
As with the parent brand Huawei, Honor is also extending the warranties in India due to COVID-19. For warranties expiring between March 21st and June 21st, the warranty deadline has been extended to June 30th.
OPPO
Following the trend, OPPO has also extended the warranties in India till 31st May for users whose warranty is falling on or after March 23rd.
Samsung India
Samsung India has extended warranties till 31st May 2020 for all the products whose warranties are expiring between March 20th & April 30th, 2020.
Asus
Asus India has also announced an extension in product warranties. The warranty extension will be available for all Smartphones, Laptops, Desktops, All in one, and Tablets whose warranty has expired during the lockdown period between March 25, 2020, and April 14, 2020, for a period of 30 days.
Lenovo-Motorola
Lenovo-Motorola has also extended the warranty on smartphones and accessories in India under the Lenovo as well as Motorola brands till May 31st. To better support customers, Lenovo and Motorola are offering a free global warranty extension for up to 75 days through May 31, 2020, for all Lenovo/Motorola smartphones and accessories with warranties that are coming to an end between March 15 through April 30, 2020.
